WUSA-TV CBS Washington - United States Television

WUSA is a full service television station in Washington, D.C., broadcasting on local digital VHF channel 9 and on virtual channel 9. Founded in 1949as WOIC-TV, it is owned by Gannett Company. WUSA is affiliated with CBS, airing CBS’s primetime shows in the evening. In the morning, the station airs CBS’s morning news and information program, with spots for local news and weather; in the afternoon, it airs CBS’s soap operas; in the early evening, it shows CBS’s national news broadcast and WUSA 9 News Now local newscasts. After primetime, it airs WUSA 9 News Now local newscasts, followed by CBS’s late-night programming. WUSA also airs local sports broadcasts. WUSA is the station that has been an affiliate of CBS for the longest period of time. WUSA used the call signs WOIC-TV from 1949 until 1950, WTOP-TV from 1950 until 1978 and WDVM-TV from 1978 until 1986.
