WMAV-DT PBS Oxford - United States Television

WMAU-TV is a full service television station in Bude, Mississippi broadcasting on local digital VHF channel 18. Founded in 1982, it is a member station of Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB). In 1969, the Mississippi Authority for Educational Television (MAET) was established by the Mississippi State Legislature with the mission of f providing “educational and instructional professional growth and public service programs for the students and citizens of Mississippi.” When it started broadcasting in 1970, the public television network was known as Mississippi Educational Television (ETV). When Mississippi ETV merged with Public Radio in Mississippi (PRM) in 2003, Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB) was created. MPB was Mississippi’s first statewide broadcast system, providing quality educational television and radio programming with an education department focused on providing educational resources and curriculum to Mississippians of all ages. It provides access to both the national Public Broadcasting Systems (PBS) programming as well as its own productions. MPB has produced many educational television programs, such as “Tomes & Talismans,” “The Write Channel,” “About Safety,” “Zebra Wings,” “Project Survival,” and “Between the Lions.”
