WCIQ-DT PBS Mt. Cheaha - United States Television

WCIQ is a full service television station in Mount Cheaha, Alabama, broadcasting on local digital channel 27 and virtual channel 26. Founded in 1955 as WEDN, it is owned by Alabama Educational Television Commission and branded as APT. It is a member station of PBS (Public Broadcasting Service.) In addition to its national PBS programming, WCIQ airs locally produced programs with information concerning Alabama public affairs, culture, history and education. WCIQ’s channel is multiplexed, with APT and PBS programming on 26.1; on 26.2 is APT IQ, the Family Learning Channel, and on 26.3 is APT-Create, with programs about do-it-yourself and travel information. WCIQ used WEDM in 1955, changed to WTIQ from 1955 until 1959. It was a station for National Education Television from 1955 until 1970, being the ninth United States station to sign on as an educational channel.
